Deer and Doe Lupin and Melilot Fabric!

August 26, 2016

My Les Fleurs rayon came in! Swoon! I will use it for a Melilot – which I mocked up in photoshop.   I just stopped at Stitch to get Lupin fabric and luckily Kalle was in. She just made up a muslin in a size 42, so I was able to…

Seamwork Adelaide: Finished!

August 22, 2016

It came out so good! This is definitely the most complicated thing I’ve sewn (not that this is a complicated pattern), and I’m pretty proud of myself. Check out those Merchant & Mills mother of pearl buttons! Swoon. I can’t believe I doubted them. I ended up following all…

Seamwork Adelaide Notes

August 13, 2016

Here she is so far! After that first muslin, I took some time away and let things percolate. I also took Sew the Perfect Fit on Craftsy. Overall, I think I’m starting to see what the fit issues I have actually are. I bet that’s the biggest hurdle for…

Rachel’s 241 Tote

August 11, 2016

I actually finished this two weekends ago, but took last weekend off to be a couch potato. More on that later. This came out awesome, and just like the mockup! I made the slip pocket the right size for her specific phone, and included an interior zip pocket as well.…

Sorbetto #2 and this week

July 24, 2016

Yesterday I woke up at 5am, and was just up. Instead of laying in bed being annoyed, I decided to just get up and make another sorbetto before our cooking class. It went awesome! I still think it’s slightly too tight across the bust, but it looks good and feels…

Seamwork Adelaide Muslin 1

July 17, 2016

Started on the Seamwork Adelaide. I feel like Colette’s measurements may run a bit small. My measurements put me exactly at a 12 for bust and hips, and 10 for waist, so I cut a 12 for the muslin thinking I could grade down in the waist if necessary. The…

On the way back from Skye we stopped at Blair Cast On the way back from Skye we stopped at Blair Castle where they had a great fashion exhibit from their collection. They also had a room of stunning needlework collected or created by one of the Duke’s daughters in the 1800s.

With our extra day, we went to Lochcarron of Scotland for a fabric mill tour. We were going to spend the day exploring the Scottish Borders but found a giant bulge in the tire of our rental car so we anxiously drove back to drop it off, avoiding as many of the millions of potholes as possible.

Then we headed to our stately hotel for our last day before heading home: a spa day complete with afternoon tea and yes another tasting menu.

We drove to one hike and turned right around when we saw the crowd. But we did get some gorgeous views, a tour at Talisker, and an incredible tasting menu @scorrybreacrestaurant.

Then to our stylish B&B. The next day we headed to Skye but stopped at Glencoe for an easy walk around a beautiful little loch.

The castle was a filming location for a Christmas episode of Downton Abbey, and there were photos everywhere. In the little cafe a woman asked if she could take a photo of the photo over our table and I said “sure, I love that show” and she looked at me dead serious and said “yeah of course!” Like duh.
Very full day in Edinburgh: National Museum of Sco Very full day in Edinburgh: National Museum of Scotland and the Dr. Who exhibit, lunch in a building from the 1500s, Edinburgh Castle, shopping, Dovecot studios (textile gallery), and the Scotch Whiskey Experience. We logged almost 8 miles of walking then took a taxi back to our amazing hotel.
