Deer and Doe Lupin and Melilot Fabric!

August 26, 2016

My Les Fleurs rayon came in! Swoon! I will use it for a Melilot – which I mocked up in photoshop.

I just stopped at Stitch to get Lupin fabric and luckily Kalle was in. She just made up a muslin in a size 42, so I was able to try it on. I’ve been debating about size…my upper bust puts me in a 42, but the rest of me in a 44, maybe a 46 if I want maximum layering ability. The 42 fit my shoulders and arms pretty well, but barely closed. Since there aren’t any closures, I’m thinking of just going with a 44. It might be very slightly too big in the shoulders but for layering that’s OK, should fit well through the waist, and be big enough to layer, especially since it’s an open jacket.

I’ll probably pin the pattern together and possibly make a quick bodice muslin just to confirm.

Anyway, I also picked out this amazing fabric…it was all a little pricey, but it’ll make an amazing jacket. I of course mocked it up in photoshop as well.

We met 40 years ago as tiny bebes in the park, and through the years we drifted apart several times but always found each other again at various dance recitals, school field trips, beach clubs, fabric stores, and summer jobs. The universe kept shoving us together til it stuck. This quilt is a hug from afar. I might not be able to get up to New Jersey frequently but this quilt will be there for cozy/comforting times as needed.

I picked out my fabric, then used a quilt generator at savoreverystitch.com (the last slide), then imported it into Photoshop and colored over it (second to last slide), basically changing the whole thing, but it was an awesome starting place.
