Reflecting on a Year of Handmade Clothes

May 29, 2017

One year ago today I made my first shirt! It wasn’t great.

It’s a Seamwork Akita. I had no idea what I was doing. I especially had no idea about fitting. When I was snipping the last of my threads on it, I cut a hole in the sleeve. I wore this once or twice and it has sat in my closet since. I pulled it back out recently to see what I could do with it but the answer was not much. I’ll probably recycle the fabric into some bag linings.

I’ve come a long way since then, and put together this grid of (nearly) everything I’ve made in the past year. I’m not the most prolific, but I was pretty impressed to see everything all at once.
